If you haven't already guessed it, that guy in the picture
to the left is me. No, not the guy on the right... the other one! Whether
you're a Genesis fan with a question or comment, an artist featured on this site
interested in being interviewed and/or sharing news, or a passive web surfer who
just happened to stumble across this site, your comments and suggestions are
welcome (You can e-mail me
privately).
As for me, if
you're curious, the first time I heard Genesis I was nine years old. It was
December 1980, and my sister received the Duke album as a Christmas gift (We
played that poor piece of black vinyl to death!). By 1985, I had become
collector of the band. It was a great time to get into collecting. The CD
was just beginning, 8-tracks could still be found in used bins for next to
nothing, LPs still flourished as a viable format, and cassette tapes were
still popular. You could get just about anything in one format or another
(Although, I wouldn't appreciate this for years to come). |
I collected the artists included
here religiously until my early 30s. I still collect the band today, but as I
approached my early to mid-30s, my interest in buying obscure test pressings of
albums and rare promo CDs from around the globe had been foreshadowed by my
interests in more real-life issues (like buying a house, a new car, etc.). I
have enjoyed collecting over the years, and still collect them all in a more
scaled back, reasonable fashion. In fact, my reason of putting this site
together was to share my vast collection and resources with fellow fans from
around the world and to provide collectors with the information they need to
help locate some of the rarities they have been seeking for years. This site is
still very much a work-in-progress, so check back from time to time to see what
news things I've added.
In my professional life, I work in Human Resources for a large health system in
the United States. In the past, I have placed professionals with Fortune 500
companies like Microsoft, Bristol-Myers Squibb, MBNA, and so on. I have also
worked as a freelance writer and photographer for music and entertainment
magazines. I have been published on national and regional levels, the largest of
which having a circulation of approximately one million copies nationwide (USA).
In my travels as a writer, I have interviewed and/or met many actors and
musicians, including Phil Collins in 1990 and 1997, Steve Hackett in 1993 and
2001, Ray Wilson in 2001 and 2005, Anthony Phillips, Nir Z, and Nick D'Virgilio
in 2001, Chester Thompson in 2002, Daryl Stuermer in 2002 and 2007, Tony Banks and Mike
Rutherford in 2004, and Mike & The Mechanics (Mike Rutherford, Paul Carrack and
Paul Young) in 1994. When I wasn't working, sleeping, trying to have a little
bit of a social life, or developing this site, I miraculously managed to
complete my M.B.A. in 2004 - I'm still not sure how!
World of Genesis.com has been acknowledged by Genesis, Steve Hackett, Tony
Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips, Ray Wilson, Paul Carrack, Chester
Thompson, Daryl Stuermer, Bill Bruford, Rolling Stone Magazine, and the
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), among others, for its content and
regular updates. The site can also be found on most major search engines and web
spiders, including: Yahoo!, AOL, MSN, Excite, Iwon, Google, and many more. In
November 2004, World of Genesis.com achieved the accolade of breaking the 50,000
UNIQUE hits per month barrier (something that has been duplicated and surpassed
many times since). In June 2006, World of Genesis.com celebrated its 5th year
anniversary with a complete site redesign (the one that you see on-line today).
In 2007, World of Genesis.com was nominated by VH1 (affiliated with MTV/Viacom)
for being one of the best Genesis fan sites on the Internet.
The legend of Genesis lives on through their solo efforts, the band's 2007 reunion tour, and through the many fan sites that pepper the Internet, like
World of Genesis.com.
Thanks for stopping by World
of Genesis.com!
