Peter Gabriel To Be Inducted in 2014 To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced today that Peter Gabriel, along with Nirvana, Kiss, Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt, and Cat Stevens would be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. In addition, The Rolling Stones managers, Andrew Loog Oldham and Brian Epstein will earn Ahmet Ertegun awards, a non-performing honor, and Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band will earn the award for musical excellence.

in a new Rolling Stone Magazine interview, Peter Gabriel commented, "I'm very grateful to have gotten in again. It's a huge honor since it's for your whole body of work and not just a specific project." Gabriel is, of course, making reference to Genesis' induction into the Hall of Fame in March 2010, which he did not attend (allegedly due to rehearsal obligations for his Scratch My Back Tour).

Gabriel, Nirvana (in the first year of their eligibility), Ronstadt, and Hall and Oats got their Hall of Fame nod with their first nomination, while Stevens and Kiss have been nominated in the past before finally getting their due today. 16 other nominees announced last October were not selected and will have to wait until next year to see if they have better luck with the Hall of Fame voters (which is allegedly comprised of 700 people). The ceremony will be on April 10, 2014 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The 29th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be open to the public. Tickets go on sale next month.  The event will air on HBO in May of this year.

Peter Gabriel Comments On Phil Collins Plans To Return To Music, A New Album, and More

In a recent interview with
Rolling Stone Magazine, Peter Gabriel chimed in on Phil Collins' recent statement that he was writing songs again and considering returning to music in some capacity (which has yet to be clarified by Collins or his management - despite what rumors you may read all over the Internet). Gabriel stated, "...I think he got himself into a bit of a hole and that's great news he's coming out of it. It doesn't have to involve work, but if it does, that's a great indicator." Gabriel also leaves a spark of possibility (however unlikely it seems) of a possible Genesis reunion adding, "[A reunion with Genesis has] never been ruled out. I'm trying to picture a time when it would top my list of priorities though."

Gabriel also confirms that he has approximately 20 songs for a new album and continues to revise and write new material for a new studio album. When asked about a possible release date knowing that its easier to appropriately age an excellent bottle of wine than it is to get a new studio album from him, Gabriel appropriately commented, "I'd rather just pick a month rather than a year. It's safer that way." Be sure you click the link above for the full interview!

Phil Collins' Management Makes Official Statement

After much speculation about Phil Collins' recent comment in Germany about reconsidering his retirement announced in 2010, an official statement has been released from Phil's management: “As of this date, we would like to make it clear that although there are discussions going on there is nothing confirmed, and it is by no means certain that there will be any live performances. Should this change there will be an official announcement.” So, while nothing is confirmed at this point, it does appear that at the very least there is a possibility of something happening (either studio recordings as Collins hinted at writing new material) or perhaps more. Anyone reporting more than this - at least for now - is inaccurate. If more information becomes available, we will certainly post it here.
