World of Exclusive Contests ANNOUNCED!

It's been quiet here at World of for a bit, but now it's time to come back with a bang! It's time to officially kick off 2013 with a series of three new contests exclusively for World of readers!

The first contest gives fans two different chances to win one of two brand new, sealed copies of Audio Fidelity's limited numbered edition 24k Gold CD remaster of the debut self-titled album from Mike and The Mechanics which included the hits "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)", "Taken In" and "All I Need Is A Miracle." This new remaster was done from the original master tapes and is sanctioned by Mike Rutherford and his management.  One copy will be given away by clicking here and answering a couple of Mechanics trivia questions. One person will be chosen at random from the entries that get all three multiple-choice questions correct. The second copy will be given at random to one person who 'follows' World of on Twitter - no questions to answer - just follow World of Genesis on Twitter. It doesn't get any easier than that! No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law.

The second contest offers one fan an opportunity to win a sealed copy of Steve Hackett's latest studio album, Genesis Revisited II, Hackett's second tribute to the band he helped make famous! Simply follow World of Genesis on Twitter for your chance to win! If you are already following World of Genesis, then you don't need to do anything further for your chance to win! One lucky winner will be notified that they won! No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law.

The third and final contest this month offers one fan an opportunity to win a sealed copy of Peter Gabriel's Classic Albums: So DVD (NTSC/Region 1). To enter, click here and answer a couple of Peter Gabriel trivia questions. One person will be chosen at random from the entries that get all three multiple-choice questions correct. One lucky winner will be notified that they won! No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited by law. Please note: This Peter Gabriel DVD is manufactured to play in North America. It may not play in other parts of the world. If you are unable to play an NTSC/Region 1 DVD, please do not enter this contest (allow someone who can actually play the DVD to win it!).

Good luck to all those who enter! Winners will be announced in early March.

For those of you who have been looking to pick up Steve Hackett's solo catalog on CD, but have been disappointed to see many of the albums released between 1983 to 2009 on Camino Records have been out of print, we have good news. Steve will finally reissue the first batch of seven titles on his new independent label, Wolfwork Records. The titles available for pre-order now and scheduled for a late February release in 6-panel digipack sleeves include: Feedback '86, Genesis Revisited, Darktown, Till We Have Faces, To Watch The Storms, Wild Orchids, and Guitar Noir. You can pre-order the titles now through the official Steve Hackett site as European issues, but it is anticipated that their will be North American distributed versions which may be more economically priced that will be announced shortly.

Oldest Pro-Shot Film Footage of Genesis To Allegedly Be Released on DVD!

The Atomic Sunrise Festival was held March 9 to 15, 1970 at the Roundhouse in London, England. A couple of years ago, some teaser footage from the event appeared on YouTube causing Genesis fans to salivate for what is the oldest, pro-shot film footage of Genesis.  At the time, the band included John Mayhew on drums and Anthony Phillips on guitar (pre-Steve Hackett and Phil Collins) and shot just before the band signed on with Charisma Records to record the Trespass album. The owner of that footage, Adrian Everett, is allegedly looking to get the film digitized, released on DVD, and to publish a book about the festival. According to the band's management about a year ago, the film footage was missing the audio track, and despite its historical significance, would be silent unless it was dubbed with an alternate audio performance, hence limiting its value (note: the YouTube teaser clip uses dubbed audio). We can only speculate that Everett now has the genuine audio track since this release is supposedly happening. In addition to the rare Genesis footage, the film has notable for appearances by David Bowie before he became Ziggy Stardust, and Hawkwind among others. When more information is made available, I will post it here.

Peter Gabriel 'Back to Front' European Shows Announced

Late last year, Peter Gabriel announced a series of shows in Europe as part of the 'Back to Front' Tour. While this may not be surprising after the success of the North American leg in 2012, it certainly flies in the face of his prior statement that he was taking 2013 off. No additional North American shows have been announced and none are anticipated at this time. For more on the newly added Peter Gabriel shows, please visit the official Peter Gabriel site.
