Phil Collins Donates
Rare Collection of Artifacts
The Associated Press reported that Phil Collins has donated his vast 200+
piece collection of rare artifacts from the 1836 battle of the Alamo to
Battle of the Alamo and Texas Revolutionary shrine in downtown San Antonio,
Texas. The collection is considered one of the largest private collections
of its kind on this historic battle and was chronicled in Phil Collins' book
The Alamo and Beyond: A Collector's Journey.
Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson said Collins would pay to ship the
artifacts to Texas with the understanding that the state would use public
funding and private donations to eventually spruce up the Alamo site —
including erecting a building to house the collection. In the meantime, some
items will be displayed as soon as October. The collection is worth millions
but Collins said, "Being British, we don't talk about that kind of thing."
He promised to keep buying artifacts and "once I've lived with whatever I
buy for a month, I'll ship it over here."

Coordinates Members of His Band For Rehearsals For Possible 2015 Solo Tour
On June 18th from the recording studio in Hollywood, California, Bass player Lee Sklar confirmed in an interview for a
podcast that Phil Collins and his
management have coordinated that Lee, keyboardist Brad Cole, guitarists
Daryl Stuermer and Ronnie Caryl, drummer Jason Bonham, and background
vocalists Amy Keys and Lamont Van Hook will be coming together for a three
week rehearsal in Florida (Arnold McCullar may be joining them after
completing a professional commitment with Lyle Lovett). Sklar says the horn
section of Phil's band is not part of this rehearsal. Of course,
surprisingly absent from this band roster is drummer, Chester Thompson.
Whether Jason Bonham is a permanent replacement for Thompson or just filling
in for these initial rehearsals while Chester works with his Jazz Trio is
not known at this time (Sklar did not discuss this in the podcast). Sklar
added that the musicians have already been sent a set list of Phil's solo
material to (re)familiarize themselves with prior to the rehearsals.
Despite Internet rumors and fans sites posting that the rehearsals will
definitely lead to a tour in 2015, Sklar says that the outcome of the
rehearsals has yet to be determined. Apparently, Phil Collins wants to see
how everything sounds before he commits to any kind of touring. So, it could
lead to a tour, but its not definite yet. World of Genesis.com has learned
that the rehearsals will start in late August. As more information becomes
officially available, we will post it here. Stay tuned!

Anthony Phillips, John
Silver, and Chris Stewart Confirmed As Being Part of The New Genesis BBC
Anthony Phillips was recently interviewed by
The Telegraph in the UK about the
forthcoming Genesis BBC documentary Genesis: Together and Apart.
While not interviewed with the "classic" 1970's 5-man line-up of Tony Banks,
Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett for the
documentary or featured in the promotional photo (see below), Phillips along
with drummers Chris Stewart and John Silver are confirmed in this article as
having been interviewed for the documentary separately.

Photobook Being Released
Photographer Robert Ellis followed
the band from the recording studio in September 1974 and through the tour in
Europe, taking hundreds of shots of the band at work with the special
intention of documenting it for posterity. Finally, these images have been
put together by Robert personally to commemorate this significant time in
the history of Genesis and Peter Gabriel. Ellis said, "I want
to be seen as a companion to the album, not a critique of the songs, the
band, or the show - more an extended super deluxe packaging for a live album
that never was." The book is expected to be available for the 40th
anniversary of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. For more information,

Genesis Reunite For New BBC
been some buzz for several months that a documentary on the band was in
the works. Today, Genesis and the BBC confirm that they have worked
together on a new career-spanning documentary called
Genesis: Together and
Apart to air on
BBC 2 in the U.K. (the documentary is anticipated to air on BBC America
as well for those in North America).
The program forms part of a new series of music programming by the BBC
to spotlight the inaugural
BBC Music Awards which is scheduled for
December 11th at Earl's Court in England. The Genesis documentary will
be a feature length release made in full cooperation of Genesis,
including the reuniting of Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett with Genesis
mainstays Tony Banks, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford for the first
true project together since 1975 (discounting "Carpet Crawlers '99"
which was not actually recorded all together anyway).
The project boasts previously unseen archive material and rare
performance footage covering their entire career, which is a lofty
statement considering how much archive product has surfaced on the
The Live Box: 1973-2007, and
The Movie Box: 1981-2007 box sets of
the past decade.
While no mention in today's press statement from Genesis or the BBC
includes mention of Anthony Phillips, John Silver or Ray Wilson, I would
be surprised if they were not asked to participate in some small
capacity, but I guess we will need to wait and see. There is allegedly a future
blu-ray and DVD release of this documentary following the
air date. No specifics on the release or the actual television air date are
available yet, but I suspect we will hear more details (and likely more
news) as the actual broadcast get gets closer. Stay tuned!
