Daryl Stuermer Confirms Plans to Release
Live Album; New Solo Album To Follow
At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in New York, Daryl Stuermer
confirmed for me that he intends to release a live album later this year. At
the present time, he was uncertain whether the focus of the live album would
be his own solo work or would include Martin Levac as part of his Genesis
Rewired project. More information is anticipated shortly. Daryl also
confirmed that he intends to release a new solo album at some point in the
future. The new studio album will have more of a progressive rock focus,
much like his last studio album, 2007's
Go.
You can check out Daryl's scheduled 2010 Genesis Rewired tour dates

Bob Babbitt Reports On Forthcoming Phil
Collins Motown Project
On the forum
on the
Bob Babbitt website, we learn some new things about the forthcoming
Motown tribute project Phil Collins has been working on. First, on
January 11th, the Funk Brothers (Bob Babbitt, Eddie Willis and Ray
Monette) joined the project, and by Wednesday, January 20th, they
finished the overdubs for 25 tracks for the album.
Bob Babbitt cited that Phil's drumming on the album is great despite his
recent surgery (and press reports that he could no longer play). The
week of February 9th they added strings and began the final mixes of the
album. According to Babbitt, the album should be released "by the end of
the summer" (although other reports say that it will be out in the early
fall which is a peak season for releases given the big holiday season in
December). A couple of showcases are anticipated to be filmed (in Europe
and in the USA) in May/June.
For those unfamiliar with Bob, he's played bass on songs by Marvin Gaye,
Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Edwin Starr, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight
and countless other R&B legends. |

July; his independent release of his latest studio album, Out of the
Tunnel's Mouth, will be released through Inside Out Records in North
America and Europe in late spring; and he's finishing up the final tracks

Tony Banks Implies That Genesis May,
Indeed, Be Done
In
a recent interview, Tony Banks was asked whether the five remixed and
remastered box sets and the band's 2007 Turn It On Again Tour signaled the
end of the band's career. Tony Banks replied, "I sort
of think it is in some ways, isn't it? But that would never stop you from
doing it again if something comes up. And I think the box sets, to me, were
the things I really enjoyed doing because. . . for the chance to go over the
old material and make it sound, y'know, as good as we possibly could, I
felt. As far as everything else, the playing is something that could always
be done at any time. I can't see us ever doing any writing together again.
But in terms of doing it again -- it's always a possibility. We're all
getting on a bit now. I'm 60 in a few weeks time. I know Mick Jagger's out
there -- but even so."
