Phil Collins' New Book On Historic Alamo Artifacts Available For Pre-Order!

Phil Collins' new hardcover book featuring pieces of his prized collection of historic Alamo memorabilia is now available for order. The Alamo and Beyond: A Collector's Journey (
1933337508, 978-1933337500) is published by State House Press and is receiving rave reviews. One reviewer goes so far as to call it "Phil Collins' gift to Texas."

According to the press release, "Here, for the first time in history, are the artifacts, relics, and documents that compose the Phil Collins collection, available in a beautifully designed color book shot-through with stunning photography and crisply rendered illustrations. Collinsís prose takes the reader through the joys of being a collector as he lovingly describes what each piece in this impressive assemblage means to him. Photographer Ben Powell of Austin brought these items to vivid relief, and artist Gary Zabolyís masterful pen-and-ink drawings breath life into the items. Essays by Texas historians Bruce Winders, Don Frazier, and Stephen Hardin provide the historical background to the collection and help make this into a work of art that also serves handily as a serious research tool." You can also watch a brief 3+ minute promotional clip about the new book here (included in the promo clip is a snippet of a rare Phil Collins instrumental tune called "Head Held High").

Naxos Reconfirms The North American Release Date For Tony Banks' New Orchestral CD

As reported here back on March 11th, we initially reported last month that Tony Banks' new orchestral CD, SIX Pieces for Orchestra, would be released on April 24th in North America. More recently, other sites began reporting that the North American release was pushed up to April 2nd. As release dates as always subject to change, WOG rechecked with the record company, Naxos. As of Friday, Naxos has reconfirmed that the April 24th release date is still correct.

Conflicting Release Information Circulating About North American Tony Banks Orchestral CD

Last month, we reported courtesy of Naxos, the label releasing the forthcoming Tony Banks orchestral CD Six Pieces for Orchestra, that the North American release date was tentatively set for April 24th. Now, a few places are reporting a release date of April 2nd. We have reached out to Naxos to confirm whether the street date for the North American has, in fact, changed. Release dates change all the time, so this is certainly possible (and it would bring the North America release closer to the previously announced UK release date of March 26th). Once we know for certain, we will post it here.

Phil Collins' Classic ...But Seriously Album Tentatively To Be Released As A 24k Gold Audiophile CD in April

According to the President of Audio Fidelity Records, the label will reissue an audiophile 24k Gold CD remaster of Phil Collins' ...But Seriously album (catalog #: AFZ-135) in April (pre-order coming soon!). As with the Audio Fidelity audiophile editions of Face Value; Hello, I Must Be Going!; and No Jacket Required, these are all remastered limited numbered editions. The label president also reported that the final batches of Face Value and No Jacket Required will be shipped soon from the warehouse, finishing off the complete run of 5,000 copies in the series of each of those titles. Once those are sold by retailers, these classic audiophile editions will be gone forever!

As reported here previously, the Audio Fidelity label also has plans in the works to reissue an audiophile 24k Gold CD for the first self-titled Mike and the Mechanics album in the near future as well (although no exact release date has been determined yet). Steve Hackett Provides Updates On New Live Album, New Genesis Tribute Project, A New Single, and More!

In a mass-distribution e-mail from Steve Hackett's camp, we've learned that Steve has a number of things in the pipeline for fans. First, Steve will be releasing a new live album taken from the recent batch of UK tour dates. No specific details are known yet, but I am certain more will be revealed very shortly.

Next, Steve announced that on May 20th, there will be a special one-off show called 'Past & Present' at the Islington Assembly in London, England. According to Steve, "Itíll embrace early Genesis days / Voyage of the Acolyte material and then spin forwards to celebrate the two most recent albums and will also include a number not previously performed. Itís in aid of CHILDLINE ROCKS. The child support theme is also reflected in the single that comes out the day after the show, Enter the Night which was influenced by the story of Peter Pan." Hackett will also do a few tour dates with Djabe later this month (visit the official Steve Hackett site for details).

If a special live show, a new single, and a forthcoming live album are not enough, Steve also shares that he is working on a Genesis Revisited II studio project with yet to be named special guests (of course, a follow up to the popular Genesis Revisited project from the '90s). Plus, re-confirmation that the Squackett album with Chris Squire (from the rock band Yes) will be released "late spring."
