Steve Hackett Talks About His Thoughts on the Possibility of A Genesis Reunion In A New Interview

In a new interview with The Northern Echo, Steve Hackett talks about his current tour and his thoughts on the possibility of a Genesis reunion. When discussing the possibility of a reunion of the classic 5-man Genesis line-up Hackett explains, "
I was approached a while back (2005), but it was bit like showing up for a board meeting and a resolution is passed. It doesnít work out because we were talking about doing a live version of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and a stage musical. Basically a certain faction, and Iím not going to name names in the band, figured it was going to be too difficult to do the musical. My take on it was it then killed stone dead the idea of the five-man piece coming together. Thatís all Iím prepared to say but Iíd be happy if it was turned into a musical. Iíve not stood in the way of band reformation. I try and be as positive as possible. I donít think there will ever be a reformation of Genesis. It seems Iím being asked to account for the sins of others although I do tend to rubberstamp every mix (of Genesis songs) that comes through. Iím not going to hold my breath waiting, Iíd rather be out there performing.Ē

According to Rolling Stone, a new interview with Phil Collins can be found on newstands. Phil talks further about leaving his music career in the past and his passion for this history of the Alamo. In addition, a shocking revelation is revealed that the singer/drummer has contemplated suicide in recent years. In the article Collins explains: "I wouldn't blow my head off... I'd overdose or do something that didn't hurt. But I wouldn't do that to the children. A comedian who committed suicide in the Sixties left a note saying, 'Too many things went wrong too often.'
