Phil Collins Allegedly Talks About Possible 'Come Back' In Germany This Week

According to the German Genesis Fan Site 'It' (also known as, at the opening of the musical Tarzan in Stuttgart, Germany this week, Phil Collins made himself available to the media. In that discussion, the German fan site reports that Phil Collins stated that he had considered making new music again and possibly touring at the suggestion of his sons. Surprisingly, I have yet to find this reported anywhere else by any media outlet - in Germany or elsewhere - which makes me question whether or not the statement may have been taken out of context as this would certainly be big music news that most major media outlets would report on (as I was not there, and I have not heard the alleged quote, I do not know for sure). In addition, Collins still suffers from a neck injury that caused nerve damage in hands, making it extremely difficult for him to play drums.

Obviously, if this news is accurate, it would be the first time Collins has publicly expressed any interest in the possibility making music since the conclusion of his 2010 Going Back album and subsequent seven-date supporting tour. If further confirmation of this comes about, I will post it here.

Armando Gallo Launches Peter Gabriel 'So' 25th Anniversary iPad App
On November 11, 2013, famed photographer and long time Genesis fan, Armando Gallo, launched a free app for the iPad in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Peter Gabriel's So album. Initially, the content of this free app included: six original So videos, a So Cover photo booth, a 'Back to Front' exclusive photo gallery by Armando Gallo himself, a never-before-heard 1986 Armando Gallo interview with Peter Gabriel offering a track-by-track analysis of the So album, Share So postcards, a 'Making of So' feature, Selected clips from the Classic Albums So documentary (the complete documentary is also available on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc elsewhere), So DNA vintage interactive turntable with more content allegedly being added in the future. Sadly, the app disappeared from the iTunes store as quickly as it surfaced. Gallo reports the app will return at a later date (webmaster's note: I'm sure its some sort of copyright issue, but hopefully it can be resolved). As previously reported, Gallo is also working on an iPad app to bring his classic "I Know What I Like" photo book into the digital age. For more on the progress of that project, click here.

Tony Banks' Camp Provides Exclusive Details On Tony's Immediate Plans For 2014!

World of had an exclusive opportunity to chat directly with Tony Banks' management, and they shed some light on Tony's immediate plans for 2014. In addition to the news posted here yesterday, it has been confirmed that the orchestral piece of music Tony Banks is writing for the Cheltenham Music Festival next year will be approximately 15 minutes in length when completed. There are no immediate plans to release the composition commercially as part of a new Tony Banks project. As of now, the plan is that the piece will just be performed live in concert - as that is what it was commissioned specifically for, after all (all the more reason to attend the event if you are able to get to the UK next July!).

There have also been very strong, seemingly credible, rumors swirling for months about the possibility of remasters of Tony's solo back catalog coming out in the not-so-distant future. It was verified by Tony's management that there have been some discussions about reissuing Tony's solo back catalog, but nothing specific has been confirmed beyond that at this point. They intend to announce the reissues officially through the official Tony Banks site if the remasters do get confirmed for re-release (of course, the details will be here as well). So, while there seems to be no immediate plan for the reissues to surface in 2014, at least there is some discussion about the possibility of it!

Tony Banks Is Commissioned For Classical Piece For Cheltenham Music Festival Next Year

According to the official Tony Banks site, Tony has been commissioned by the Cheltenham Music Festival to write an orchestral composition to be played as part of a concert on Saturday, July 5, 2014 in the Town Hall Cheltenham, England. This will be the musical festival's 70th anniversary. Banks commented, "
I am very flattered to be asked to write an orchestral music piece for the 70th Cheltenham Music Festival. This will be especially exciting for me, as it will be the first time a classical piece of mine has been played live in concert." For those unfamiliar with Tony Banks' classical work, he's released two orchestral projects, 2004's Seven and 2012's Six Pieces For Orchestra.

Mike Rutherford Confirms Plans For 2014

We're happy to report that Mike Rutherford and his management has confirmed that the reason for the delay of Mike and the Mechanics' new The Singles: 1985-2014 (formerly titled The Singles: 1985-2013) to January of next year is because his Living Years 25th Anniversary Tour kicks off in Europe in February. Mario Giammetti Releases New Italian Genesis Book

Earlier this year, a new Italian language book on Genesis, Gli Anni Prog, by writer Mario Giammetti (of the Italian Genesis fan site, Dusk) has just been published spanning the progressive rock years between 1969 and 1975. The studio albums of that period (from From Genesis To Revelation to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway) are critically analyzed with the fundamental input of all band members, interviewed by Mario himself and British journalist Mike Kaufmann.

Uniquely for this book, Mario listened to of all the albums together with some of the protagonists: Tony Banks (who also wrote the interesting foreword), Steve Hackett and Anthony Phillips who all kindly dedicated their time to comment, minute by minute on the music, thus providing some unique insights into the creative process.

Although the book (which features 240-color pages) is written in Italian, it is still worthy for Genesis fans worldwide, thanks to loads of rare and previously unseen photos, as well as ticket stubs and other memorabilia. It also features an updated and accurate list of all the gigs of the Genesis tours, compiled with the help of American collector George German.
